At Air Horizontone of our core values is experience and quality experience and quality and quality that we offer in each of our charter flights. Behind this dedication and professionalism are people such as Manuel Salhico-founder and operations director of our company, who has been of our company, who has been at the helm of the company since our early days. Manuel not only oversees day-to-day operations, but also continues to fly as a pilot, giving him a unique perspective on the challenges and successes of running an airline.

In this interview, Manuel tells us about the history of aviation and how Air Horizont has become a reference in the charter sector, adapting to market demands and maintaining the highest standards of safety and service.

The beginnings of Air Horizont

"Hello, I am Manuel Salhi, together with Juan Luis Diez, founder of Air Horizont. I am the operations manager and also a pilot in this company," Manuel tells us at the beginning of the interview. His passion for aviation is evident from the very first moment, and his role is not only administrative; he is also involved in the daily operations, something that distinguishes him as one of the leaders of our airline.

Air Horizont's mission began with a clear vision: to offer quality charter flights that could be adapted to the specific needs of each client, whether in the sports, business or tourism sectors. Since its foundation, Air Horizont has been growing and consolidating its position in the market, especially in European destinations.

The story behind cabin crews

Manuel took us through an interesting history lesson on the origin of cabin crews, a crucial aspect in the operation of any commercial flight. "The history of cabin crews began during World War II, when airplanes were used for bombing, transporting materials, people and wounded," he tells us.

During the war, cabin crews not only served the passengers, but played a crucial role in the safety of everyone on board. "The planes had a staff of nurses in charge of taking care of the wounded, and when there were no wounded, these nurses would serve coffee or, more importantly, inform the crew of what was going on in the back of the plane," Manuel adds. This ensured that the pilots were aware of everything that was going on, something that is still key today.

The importance of cabin crews today

"It's still the same today," Manuel points out. "After World War II, those crews moved into civil aviation, and their role is still crucial." Cabin crews are not only the friendly faces that welcome you on board, they are the eyes and hands of the pilots in the back of the aircraft. Manuel stresses the importance of having a highly trained team that can resolve any situation that arises during the flight, from emergencies to ensuring passenger comfort.

At Air Horizont, we pride ourselves on having crews that are not only highly experienced, but also dedicated to customer service. Our focus on passenger safety and well-being is a priority on every flight.

Excellence in charter flights

In recent years, Air Horizont has specialized in charter flights, a service that offers unique flexibility compared to scheduled flights. Manuel explains that one of the highlights of charter flights is the ability to customize each flight to the client's needs. "We offer flights for sports teams, music groups, companies and tourists, each with their own particularities and demands," he comments.

This adaptability is what has allowed Air Horizont to stand out in the European market, and Manuel's experience as a pilot and operations manager ensures that each flight meets the highest standards of quality and safety. "We know that every customer is different, and we make sure that each of our flights is a unique and personalized experience," he adds.

Commitment to safety and quality

Manuel also talked about the importance of safety in every operation. "For us, safety is non-negotiable," he emphasizes. Every member of the Air Horizont team, from pilots to cabin crews, undergoes rigorous training to be prepared for any eventuality. "We make sure our aircraft are always in top condition, and we work closely with our customers to meet all their expectations."

Manuel also emphasizes the team spirit at Air Horizont. "Here we all work as a family. From the maintenance technicians to the crew, we are all committed to making every flight safe, comfortable and on time." It is this collaborative approach that has enabled Air Horizont to gain the trust of its customers and continue to expand its business in countries across Europe.

Looking to the future

When we asked Manuel about the future of Air Horizont, his answer was clear: "We want to keep growing and improving. Our goal is to remain a leader in the charter market and maintain our reputation for service excellence."

With over a decade of experience in the industry, Manuel and the entire Air Horizont team are committed to providing a service that combines quality, safety and flexibility, ensuring that every customer receives the best possible experience on every flight.

Air Horizont continues to look to the future with optimism, relying on the experience and leadership of people like Manuel Salhi, whose passion for aviation and dedication to service continue to make our company a reference in the charter sector.
